Cascade is the official yearbook of Seattle Pacific University. Every year, Cascade strives to encapsulate the memories, essence, and culture of the SPU community. The theme we chose this particular year was “Infinite Memories”, because this was the first year events and clubs resumed on campus post COVID-19.

Introduction

When it came to brainstorming the visual theme, the lead designer proposed the idea of doing a space/galaxy theme to further the meaning of Infinite Memories. I thought it was a great way to visualize the theme, so we got to work with the mood board and which direction we want to go towards.

Brainstorming/Ideation

After pitching the idea to the editing team, we got the green light to start making the visual identity for the book.

Color + Type

Each quarter had it’s own color palette to match season changes. These base illustrations were interchanged to create variety and contrast throughout the book.

Base Illustrations

Each quarter also had their own page number design to make it unique to each section.
